Pilates & Women’s Health

Newbury, Berkshire & Online

Women's Health Pilates offers personalised Pilates sessions tailored to the unique changes and challenges women may experience throughout life. Whether you are navigating perimenopause or menopause, looking to support bone health and osteoporosis prevention, improve pelvic floor function, recovering after pregnancy, or simply noticing your body feels different than it once did, sessions are designed around your individual needs and goals.

Using the principles of Pilates alongside an understanding of women's health, we focus on building strength, improving mobility, supporting posture and alignment, enhancing balance, and helping you move with greater confidence. Sessions can be adapted to address specific concerns while still providing all the benefits of a well rounded Pilates programme.

For women in midlife, Pilates can play an important role in maintaining muscle strength, supporting healthy movement patterns, improving balance, and helping you stay active and resilient through the physical changes associated with hormonal transition.

You are welcome to book online, or get in touch if you would prefer to have a chat first. As a Certified APPI Pilates for Women's Health Instructor, with additional training in pelvic floor health, menopause, osteoporosis prevention, and pregnancy and postnatal Pilates, and over 15 years of teaching experience, my approach is always supportive, individual, and guided by your needs.

Pelvic Floor Health

Pelvic floor health is an important part of how we move and feel in our bodies, yet it is often overlooked or misunderstood.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can affect up to 50% of women, and while symptoms such as weakness, heaviness, or bladder leakage are common, they do not have to be something you simply live with.

I offer personalised Pilates sessions to support pelvic floor and core function, particularly during postnatal recovery or times of physical change such as menopause. Sessions are designed to help you better understand your body, improve function, and feel more confident in your movement.

Pilates works the body as a whole, integrating the pelvic floor, deep abdominals, breath, and postural muscles, helping these systems function together rather than in isolation.

A healthy pelvic floor needs to be able to both contract and fully relax. In some cases, symptoms are linked not just to weakness, but to tension or overactivity. Learning how to release and allow the muscles to return to a resting state can be just as important as building strength.

Before your session, you will be asked to complete a pelvic floor health questionnaire and medical form. This helps me understand your history, any symptoms you may be experiencing, and ensures we can work together safely and appropriately.

During your initial session, we take time to talk through any symptoms, medical considerations, and your goals in a relaxed and supportive way. You can share as much as you feel comfortable with, and there is space to ask questions and begin to understand how your body is working.

From there, we explore the most appropriate way forward for you. This may include learning and practising pelvic floor exercises to build awareness and strength, either on their own or as part of a wider Pilates-based approach that integrates breath, posture, and core support.

Where symptoms are more complex, I recommend working alongside a pelvic health physiotherapist who can carry out an internal assessment and provide clinical guidance. This ensures that any exercise programme is appropriate for your body, whether your pelvic floor requires strengthening, relaxation, or a more specific approach.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the best approach for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch by email.
